Mother's Day

While I honestly believe that the Church needs to celebrate Celebate Day (or we could call it, Those Who Are Single for the Lord Day, the celebrate/celebate thing was a pun, for those of you who missed it), since we do not give them half as much credit and honor as they deserve (I'm not saying we should celebrate for those who are merely single now, though I guess we probably should honor them as well, I'm talking about those who have chosen to live in this manner of life for the Lord), this Sunday is Mother's Day. This is a great time to honor mothers for their great service.

So call your mama and tell her you love her, and even send her a card or some flowers. I know that I fail to honor and show my mother the love she deserves. She has given so much for me and she has taught me to fear and love Christ above all else. My mother is truly the greatest mother in the world, despite all or her imperfections (I hope I find a wife who has many of her strenghs). I pray for her daily and try to call her at least once a week. I really wish she could know how much she means to me and how much I miss her--but my hand is to the plow, and so I cannot turn back.

So obey the Lord and honor your mother, and tell her how much you appreciate her (and let it be a year-round thing, and not merely a one day event). Soli Deo Gloria, for all the good gifts He gives, including loving mothers.
